Taking a year off is certainly an interesting challenge and opportunity which attracts and scares at the same time depending on your future goals a perspectives and above all  it depends on your personal motivation.

According to many teenagers and scholars a gap year is undoubtedly an enriching and rewarding experience since you might explore job opportunities, you might have a year off working in another country to improve your language and soft skills that are so relevant to have more chances on the job market.

On the other hand, a gap year might be unsettling since when finishing school you might find easier to carrying on studying and giving your best at exams. Even your memory is adequately trained and you might achieve your degree or further qualifications before.

To draw a conclusion I feel that it’s hard to choose an option instead of the other one, it depends on how mature you are to manage a gap year. This exciting experience might be suitable  for some students and less for others who will try it when they are older.
